Technology should make your life easier, right?
So here are the Must Have tech tools and apps I put at the top of my list.
I have some tech tools that I faithfully use every day I could add to that list right away, However, I also know my list could change tomorrow if something new came along that could change my life for the better.
Okay, I admit it. I pretty much use some kind of technology all day and every day. I’ve decided to just accept that and apply it to the things I enjoy.
Next on My List is all about making your life easier and keeping it interesting. My motto is,
IF IT MAKES YOUR LIFE BETTER, ADD IT TO YOUR LIST, & DO IT

What Technology Do I Use Every Day?
I think I am pretty typical and like most people when I get up in the morning,
First, I check my phone for missed messages and the top news headlines of the day so far.
Next, I move on to making coffee in my Keurig and then head for my laptop. I do use an iPad Pro as well, but for heavy work like writing and creating presentations, I use my Mac.
Remember, I am talking about tech tools I use all the time, so my list may seem a bit boring at times, but these are the non-negotiables for right now.
How Does Technology Affect Our Daily Lives?
We are all aware that technology pretty much runs every aspect of our lives. That’s not going to change and it’s ok. That being said, it is really hard to keep up with all the changes!
We all know technology has improved health care, education, transportation, food, manufacturing, even entertainment. Most of that happens without us paying attention, and we just take it for granted.
So, I asked myself and want to ask you these two questions,
What technology makes life easier or more enjoyable?
What technology could you not live without?
Let’s just say this upfront, I am not suggesting that these are the only fantastic tools and Apps out there, but they are what I use pretty much daily.
Apple has made it so easy to shop and keep all of your credit card numbers secure.
So, I am assuming we all use all the security available to us on our phones, like 6-digit codes, fingerprints, and face recognition.
Seriously, who could get by that? I have not heard of one person who’s Apple Pay was hacked.
There is no need to even have your credit card with you as you simply place your phone or watch next to a contactless reader. In some cases when shopping, Apps will simply ask you to choose Apple Pay- then you sign -in. Done
In addition, for extra security, did you know that when you use Apple Pay the retailer never has access to your card number, not even the last 4-digits?
Apple assigns a device account number to your phone or watch and then it is encrypted and securely stored in a dedicated chip in iPhone and Apple Watch.
In fact, hundreds of thousands of stores accept Apple Pay and like I said many apps do as well.
I even use Apple Pay for Uber.
What I found out about Google Maps may surprise you. You already know you can great directions to anywhere, but did you know Google Maps has many more destinations in the app than the Apple Map?. For example, you just say “ok Google, restaurants” and all the restaurants around you pop up.
I was amazed at all the other things Google Maps could do that I was totally unaware of but happy to find. Rather than trying to describe them all, check out 44 Google Maps Tricks You Need to Try– From PC Magazine – Unbelievable
The Grammarly I use is the free version and I haven’t found any reason to change that. I do a lot of writing, so I can’t imagine life without it.
Grammarly not only checks your spelling and grammar but sentence structure suggestions, and even punctuation. Here is the link for Grammarly if you would like to check it out.
The Weather Channel
You know this is one of the handiest apps there is., but also quite boring. That being said, I am from the mid-west and I have heard that people from the mid-west tend to talk about the weather more than others.
But how awesome to look at radar for storms in seconds, check out the weather for your upcoming vacation, or just checking your local temperature.
Apple news is my go-to spot for all news. I like that I can not only choose what topics I like but my favorite channels as well. You can leave notifications on so a new story will pop-up on your locked screen, but that is too much for me. I get too distracted from what I am working on.
I just swipe to the right when I want to check on the news of the day.
I use Apple Notes to organize my day each morning because it is SO EASY to get side-tracked. I constantly have to keep my self-focused on the task at hand.
I also use Apple Notes to organize everything in my digital life, from grocery lists, to tax documents to passwords.
To see how I did this check out How To Organize Your Digital Life with Apple Notes.
I think Apple Notes is one of Apple’s best Apps and one everyone is underusing.
I am an Amazon Prime member, so it makes sense that I give Amazon Music a try. I love finding any song I think of in literally seconds. Music is easy to organize and I can play my music, stations, or recommendations from Amazon.
Another plus here is that my Amazon Music is always available on our devices so we can play it anywhere.
I worked really hard at researching how to make watching TV easy and cost-effective. High cable bills put me over the top! Check out my research findings at Ready to Cut the Cable TV Cord? Save Money with Streaming.
So, Youtube TV is our main TV provider (no more cable). The features are endless.
( Don’t get this confused with YouTube)
YouTube TV is an app you download from the internet. Right now we are using Apple TV to stream programming from YouTube TV.
However, there are lots of ways to stream YouTube TV like Roku and on Smart TVs where you can download the App.
We stream live TV from ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN and lots of other networks, In fact, we get 70 channels. A real bonus is unlimited HDR storage
What makes this different than cable TV? First, it is a lot cheaper and because it’s an APP, you can take it with where ever you go. -Even on vacation Here is their website if you want to check it out.

I know some people think the Find Friends App is an invasion of privacy of sorts. Hogwash. To me, it is one of the best safety apps ever.
Our whole family uses it. If someone is late or taking a trip, you may need to see their exact location.
Here’s the thing, the other person has to ACCEPT YOU as a friend before they can follow you, so it’s not like you are spying on anyone without their knowledge
Besides, you can also turn off being followed anytime you want.
We recently took a trip to where our son lives but wanted to surprise him, so I turned off Find Friends just in case he checked it and saw we were on our way!
Here’s another great example of how Find Friends helps with safety. My husband goes snowmobiling sometimes alone, and I bike on trails without him.
If we need help or don’t come home on time, we can see each other’s exact location.
Yes, you have probably guessed by now, I am a fan of Apple products.
Let’s be clear, I’m not suggesting you run out and buy whatever I use.
I am simply sharing how I use the features of my tools every single day to keep my life organized and easy as possible.
My Mac Book Pro is a little 13-inch laptop with more power and capabilities than I will ever use, but I especially like it for writing, creating presentions, or videotaping for courses or podcasts.
Because all Apple products share the same Apps and sync with each other, I can work on one device and pick up where I left off on another.
This has become really important to me with the Apple Notes App that I explain more about below.
We all know what the iPhone can do and of course, it also syncs to my Mac and iPad.
Let’s not forget to mention the awesome camera that we all take for granted.
I can answer calls on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
You might think this overkill, but you would be surprised how many times this feature comes in really handy. BTW, you can text on 4 devices as well.
“I will NEVER buy an Apple Watch. I don’t even wear a watch!” Famous last words, right?
Well, now I do own an Apple Watch and love it.
My watch really surprised me, it does so much more than I will go into here.
I answer calls, send voice text messages, watch my fitness achievements, monitor my sleep, and know I can get help if I find myself with an emergency.
I think Apple TV probably speaks for itself as one of the most useful devices.
We have one connected to every TV so we can watch local TV, watch movies from Netflix, Amazon Prime, or iTunes.
One of my very favorite things to do with Apple TV is to bring together my photos and music and make great slide shows for special events.
All you do is choose a folder with pictures, select play as a slideshow and then at the same time turn on your favorite playlist.
To Sum It Up
I could go on all day and never get to all the great tech tools I use in my daily lives, but I decided to save favorites for another time.
Here’s a shortlist:
- Google Drive
- Google Chrome
- Google Photos
- Candy Crush
…just to name a few.
