How Much Do You Know About Smart Homes?
You’re interested in all the gadgets and technology available that can make our lives easier, but don’t feel like you know enough about the topic to make smart choices ( no pun intended). You aren’t the only one!
Smarter Kitchens are probably the craziest for me. It seems like there is something new every week, right?
For Pete sake, my son and daughter-in-law ‘s refrigerator even plays music!
What to buy for your home or where to start can be pretty intimidating, because things like appliances and security systems are an investment, and what if you buy the wrong one?
Buying the wrong thing has always been a fear of mine which I why when I do buy something I research it to death first.
I guess if I had to make a recommendation it would be to start with safety.
However, choosing equipment to make your home safer can be confusing and get expensive really fast.
You likely don’t even know what to ask and where to start.
I can help a bit with that in 7 Answers You Need Before Buying a Security System.
Let’s Move to Smart Bedrooms
I like to indulge myself a bit when it comes to the comfort of our bedroom- I can pretty much make it all about me, which as you know isn’t always the case.
I need the right pillows, quilt, sheets, and lighting, and sometimes even run a diffuser with lavender to help me relax.
Honestly, I will try almost anything that promises to stop insomnia!
I admit to really enjoying new technology and innovations that make my life easier, and after I repeatedly kept seeing Smart Bedroom sneak up in my “feed” on Pinterest, I thought, hmm…
How would you like a bedroom that pampered you and created a sleep environment just for you?’
I know, right now you are saying, “Seriously? I certainly don’t have time to pamper myself, at bedtime! In reality, I am lucky if I get my teeth brushed before bed”.
How About Automating Pampering?
What I found was that there are plenty of great tech tools that can automate your comfort letting you just drift off to sleep.

I suppose you could argue we spend most of our time sleeping there, so why do we want to spend money on fancy bedroom equipment?
Of course, you already know the answer to your question. Sleep impacts almost every aspect of our health, so it’s important to maximize our resting time whenever we can. Be sure to grab this FREE Checklist for a Good Night’s Sleep and choose what you want to try.
Our bedrooms are meant to be the most comfortable relaxing room in the house, and our bedrooms are kind of a place to escape to at the end of the day. Kind of a sanctuary if you know what I mean.
Here Are 8 Smart Bedroom Gadgets, You Might Consider Before Crawling into Bed Tonight.
1. Echo Spot
At the TOP of my list is the Echo Spot, a Smart Alarm Clock with Alexa.
Evidently, it’s at the top of the list for a lot of other people too- Reviews are amazing!
Echo Spot is compact and perfect on a nightstand in place of your alarm clock. With a smart display. In addition, you can control other smart products all through your house and even see who is at the front door!
Check your calendar for the day and the weather without getting out of bed.
If the weather looks bad, just stay in bed!
The Echo has a new privacy feature I really appreciate. I know you would agree, we are all worried about devices listening in to our conversations.
Well, you can turn off the microphone and camera on Echo Spot, so you can be assured no one is listening or recording you.
2. Smart Bedroom Pillows
If you don’t have an awesome pillow you have very little chance of a comfortable sleep. There is nothing worse than trying to get a good night’s sleep and you have a BAD pillow.
You know exactly what I am talking about, hard or lumpy.
Whoever would have thought we’d be talking about Smart Pillows?
Actually, it turns out there are many to choose from and most have similar features like tracking your sleep through an app, control snoring, and wake you in the morning. CAn you believe it?
But, buyer beware, not all pillows are what they say they are and they can get expensive really fast.
After carefully reading reviews, I settled on two I would buy.
iSense Sleep Smart Pillow
Made with Memory foam cubes you can adjust the fill so it is comfortable just for you.
It tracks your sleep and through the app, you can view your heart rate, respiratory rate, sleep cycles, and a sleep score.
I suppose it might seem a little weird until you get used to it.
3. 10Minds Motion Pillow, Sleep Tracking Non-Intrusive, Anti-Snoring Smart Pillow
The 10minds Motion Pillow is pretty spendy, but if you snore or sleep with someone who does, you will want to check this out. Maybe you’ll want two.
It has a patented Head Pressure Detector that has little airbags that softly inflate to gently turn your head when snoring is detected.
Of course, there is an app that records your snoring patterns, sleep schedule and more.
4. Withings Sleep System
Usually when you thing of Sleep Systems you think of beds and mattresses, but there’s so much more now.
This sleep tracking pad goes under your mattress and does just about everything except serving your morning coffee.
Monitor your sleep cycles, heart rate, and breathing disturbances with the Withings Sleep System. The breathing disturbances is huge because it could alert you to see a doctor for potential sleep apnea.
Even more, you get a daily sleep score with tips on improving your sleep through the app.
The SLEEP sensor also can integrate with IFTTT to dim your lights or control the thermostat Of course, Nokia sleep also works with Alexa. I feel like Alexa could totally take over our house if I don’t keep an eye on her.
5. Ario Smart Bedroom Lamp
Ario Lamp was designed to :
- Wake up naturally with sunrise-like lighting
- Increase focus and productivity with energizing blue-rich light
- Relax in the evening with sunset-like amber lighting

- boost the immune system
The Ario smart lamp imitates natural light and changes light direction, color, and intensity based on what your needs. You can even customize the lamp to your schedule.
Naturally, Ario lamp is connected to the cloud and integrates with Alexa. You can also control the smart lamp from your phone but I’m not sure why you would control your lamp in bed with your phone.
6. Dyson Pure Cool Me Personal Purifying Fan
Now for me, Dyson is one of those names that I feel I can trust. Some of their products are a little spendy but are usually worth it in my opinion.
The Dyson Pure Cool Me Fan cools you with clean air because it is also an air purifier that removes allergens and pollutants. Somehow, I find that really comforting.
You get to control the amount and direction of airflow. It has an LCD display that dims in
Night-Time Mode with quiet settings.
7. MySmartBlinds Automation Kit
Watching the sunrise is beautiful but only when you want to see it. Frankly, I think that is for other people, not me.
So, what if you could control the blinds you already have with your smartphone, or when it’s time for bed, just tell Alexa you want to “close the blinds”
Seems like someone was really thinking here.
However, there is more to this Automation Kit. If you want you can control the temperature in your home using your blinds built-in temperature sensors.
Finally, the motor that controls your blinds is solar-powered, and you can even set your blinds to open and close on a schedule with its own memory motor.
Like I’ve said before, I love technology that makes my life better or easier.
